Five books I would like to read in June!

Hi guys! I am back today with a new post where I will share with you guys five books I would like to read this month. Before I start listing the books I would like to wish everyone a happy Pride Month! Also, I want to remind you guys to sign the petitions for #BlackLivesMatter (you can do this even if you’re not in the US) and encourage those who can to donate. Find more about this HERE.

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

I have had my eyes on this book for a little while now and I think I’m finally ready to read it. From what I’ve gathered, this is a story of four or so men who live in New York. It is sad (too sad according to an Amazon review who said it was trauma-porn) and heart wrenching. Nonetheless I still want to read it so bad and hope I can finish it and like it.

Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo

This is a British anthology about women living in an apartment complex if I remember correctly. I read If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha in April and I enjoyed it and think this will maybe have the same vibe, but with the point of view of different black women and I may relate to them more since I am one of them. I am excited to read it because it’s the June pick for the Bad Bitch Book Club, a book club created by Caitlin and Jaime, two booktubers I really admire.

All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson

This is a memoir about George M. Johnson. I am not one to read memoirs and stuff but I would like to start doing it now and since we celebrate Pride in June I think it’s a perfect book to read this month. I think this will be hard hitting and will make me cry, maybe? I don’t know anything about the author but I can’t wait to know more about them while reading these essays. Also… Can we talk about how gorgeous this cover is?

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

Elizabeth Acevedo is an amazing writer. I read With the Fire On High in September of 2019 and I enjoyed it but not as much as everyone else. I gave it a three stars, mostly because the main character annoyed me. I still want to read Clap When You Land because I heard it is a beautiful book and the story intrigues me. It’s about two girls who find out they are sisters after their father dies. I think it’s also written in verse? I’m not big on poetry but I’m trying to read more of it.

No Filter: The Inside Story of Instagram by Sarah Frier

I am a big tech girl. I love apps and gadgets and stuff like that. I would actually like to maybe work in IT too! I’m really interested in seeing how Instagram grew as an app and a business and how it got bought by Facebook. So I can’t wait to read this and hope I enjoy this book. It’s crazy when you think about how there is a life before and after Instagram, and how some people have only been here for the after.

So this is it! These are the five books I would like to read this month. However I know that I’m a big mood reader so I may not read a single of of these but I guess time will tell. Maybe I’ll do a wrap up with my thoughts on them and my ratings.

I hope you guys are all safe and well. Please don’t forget to defend the #BlackLivesMatter cause no matter where you live. These are stressful times and we need as much support as we can have right now. A change is coming and I guarantee you that you do not want to be on the side of those who did nothing about this current environment and climat. Silent is a choice and it is being pro racism. Sign the petitions, donate if you can, help us.
